Biserica Sfinţii Constantin şi Elena

În lăcașul de cult se află încastrate în pereți două plăci de marmură (una amplasată la intrarea din pridvor în pronaos, iar cealaltă la intrarea în fostul altar de pe peretele sudic), care sunt mărturii ale ctitoririi bisericii de către armeni. Pe fiecare dintre plăcile de marmură se află reprezentată o cruce, deasupra ei un text în armeană.

Fiind distrusă în parte în timpul celui de-al doilea război mondial, biserica se afla  într-o stare deplorabilă și conducerea din acele timpuri a propus ca ea să fie demolată și în locul ei să se construiască o casă de cultură.  La auzul acestei decizii, preotul dr. Teodor Bodnar (1909-2006) – inspector bisericesc al Mitropoliei Moldovei și Sucevei – a intervenit la autorități și a reușit să obțină trecerea lăcașului de cult în proprietatea  Bisericii Ortodoxe Române.

Biserica a fost restaurată cu sprijinul Mitropoliei Moldovei și Sucevei și prin constribuția credincioșilor, în timpul pastorației preoților Teodor Bodnar și Aurel Turtureanu. S-a construit o turlă centrală deasupra naosului. Biserica a fost pictată în interior în tehnica tempera de către pictorul prof.dr. Nicolae Stoica din București și înzestrată cu întregul mobilier (inclusiv ușile și cadrele icoanelor) sculptat artistic în lemn de stejar de către sculptorul Mihai Croitoru din Târgu Neamţ. După finalizarea restaurării și a picturii, biserica a fost sfințită în ziua de 1 iulie 1973 de către dr. Iustin Moisescu mitropolit al Moldovei și Sucevei, împreună cu un sobor de preoți și diaconi. Cu acest prilej, s-a stabilit ca hramul bisericii să fie Sfinții Împărați Constantin și Elena (21 mai). 

Ca urmare a deteriorării picturii, aceasta a fost refăcută în anii 1995-1996 de către pictorul maestru Nicolae Gavrilean, fiu al acestei parohii, cu sprijinul credincioșilor, în timpul păstoririi ca paroh a preotului iconom stavrofor Mircea Nuțu. Lăcașul de cult a fost resfințit la 19 mai 1996 de către arhiepiscopul Pimen Zaimcea al Sucevei și Rădăuților, înconjurat de către un sobor de preoți.  

Minunile săvârșite de Icoana Maicii Domnului din biserica "Sfinții Împărați Constantin și Elena" din Gura Humorului nu mai sunt un secret pentru nimeni. Pana acum, de-a lungul anilor, sunt cunoscute multe fapte deosebite, de miracol, săvârșite de Sfânta Icoana: vindecare de orbire, tot felul de boli și chiar cancer, epilepsie, descoperirea unor furturi de bani, reușite la procese grele, la operații, la examene, în călătorii sau plecări în străinătate.

Saints Constantine and Helen Church

"Sts. Constantine and Elena" Church is an Orthodox place of worship which was built in 1862, being in turn Armenian Church, Lutheran Church and then Orthodox Church, after the Second World War.

The church was built by the Armenian community from Gura Humorului, a village located in the Duchy of Bukovina within the Austro-Hungary, in memory of Lusik Koilavian. The place of worship had initially Saint George as patron of the church.

Inside the place of worship two marble plates are built-in the walls (one located at the entrance from the threshold on the narthex and the other at the entrance to the former sanctuary from the south wall), which are testimonies of the church foundation by the Armenians. On each of the marble plates is represented a cross and on top of it, there is a text written in Armenian language.

Being partially destroyed during the Second World War, the church was in a very bad condition and the administration of that time suggested that it should be destroyed and on its place a house of culture to be build. Upon hearing this decision, the priest Dr. Teodor Bodnar (1909-2006) – the Religious Inspector of the Metropolitan of Moldavia and Suceava –intervened to the authorities and managed to obtain the transfer of the worship place into the Romanian Orthodox Church ownership.

The church was restored with the support of the Metropolitan of Moldavia and Suceava and with the contribution of churchgoers during the pastorate of priests Teodor Bodnar and Aurel Turtureanu. A central tower was built above the nave.

The interior of the church was painted in tempera technique by painter Professor Dr. Nicolae Stoica from Bucharest and equipped with the all furniture (including doors and frames icons) which was artistically carved   by sculptor Michael Croitoru from Târgu Neamț. After completion of the restoration and the painting, the church was consecrated by Dr. lustin the Metropolitan of Moldavia and Suceava, along with a synod of priests and deacons on the 1^st of July, 1973. On this occasion, it was agreed that the patron saints are Saints Constantine and Elena (21 May).

As a result of deterioration of painting, the church was rebuilt in 1995-1996 by artist painter Nicolae Gavrilean, attender of this parish, with the support of the churchgoers, during the pastorate as parish of stavrophore priest Mircea Nuțu. The place of worship was re-consecrated on the 19^th of May, 1996 by Archbishop Pimen Zaimcea of Suceava and Rădăuţi, together with a synod of priests.

The miracles of the Virgin Mary icon from "Sts. Constantine and Elena" Church in Gura Humorului are no secret to anyone. So far, over the years, a lot of outstanding miracle performed by the Holy Icon are known: healing of blindness, all kinds of diseases and even cancer, epilepsy, the discovery of theft money, success in difficult processes, in operation, on exams, on trips or on travel abroad.
