Muzeul de artă „ION IRIMESCU”

Clădirea Muzeului de Arta „Ion Irimescu”, monument istoric, a fost construită la mijlocul secolului al XIX-lea şi a avut destinaţii diverse, până în 1974 când a fost cedată muzeului de artă. În acel an, din iniţiativa şi donaţiile sculptorului Ion Irimescu (1903-2005), a fost înfiinţat muzeul, la început ca secţie a muzeului orăşenesc din Fălticeni. Valoarea colecţiei a crescut, în prezent fiind cea mai bogată colecţie de autor din ţară, iar în 1991 s-a constituit în muzeu de sine stătător. În anul 2012, clădirea principală a muzeului a intrat într-un proces de reabilitare. Pe perioada lucrărilor expoziţia „Ion Irimescu” a fost deschisă publicului în clădirea corp B, iar evenimentele culturale organizate de muzeu s-au desfăşurat în sala multifuncţională „Aurel Băeşu”. Inaugurat la 10 februarie 1975, Muzeul de Artă ‘’Ion Irimescu” conferă operei sculptorului caracterul unei construcţii unitare prin lucrările pe care le adăposteşte.

Maestrul Ion Irimescu – continuatorul unei generaţii de aur a sculpturii româneşti de la Dimitrie Paciurea, Oscar Han, Ion Jalea, Gheorghe Anghel la inegalabilul Brâncuşi. S-a născut la 27 februarie 1903 la Fălticeni, oraş al cărui nume rămâne gravat definitiv în cultura românească prin scriitorii, actorii, muzicienii şi artiştii plastici pe care i-a dat. Prin opera şi prin muzeul său de la Fălticeni, Ion Irimescu se înscrie în marea artă europeană a secolului XX, integrând meleagurile natale în circuitul de valori universale, dând Fălticenilor o aură de nobleţe spirituală, act comparabil cu cel al lui Dante si Michelangelo pentru nemuritoarea lor Florenţă. În afara lucrărilor donate de artist meleagurilor natale, multe lucrări ale sale se găsesc în marile muzee din ţară cum ar fi Muzeul  Naţional de Artă a României, Complexul Naţional Muzeu Moldova Iaşi, Muzeul de Artă din Constanţa, Muzeul de Artă Vizuală din Galaţi, Muzeul de Artă din Cluj, dar şi în muzee din străinătate ( National Gallery of Art din Londra, Muzeul în aer liber de la Middelhein-Anvers-Belgia, Biblioteca Ambroziană din Milano, Muzeul de Artă din Thel-Aviv, etc), în colecţii particulare din ţară şi din străinătate.

Programul de vizitare al muzeului este marţi – duminică: 9.00 – 17.00.

"ION IRIMESCU " Art Museum

Located in Fălticeni municipality, on 2, Mihai Eminescu Street, "Ion Irimescu " Art Museum was founded in 1974 and it houses the largest author collection in Romania, one of the most important in Europe and it represents the donation made by sculptor Ion Irimescu, also called "The Patriarch of Romanian arts" to Fălticeni town. The collection contains the artist’s work and it consists of over 300 sculptures and about 1,000 drawings. The sculptures are exhibited inside the museum and represent portraits, compositions, monument cut-outs, made in ​​ronde-bosse or the relief technique. His works are created in the style of his own temperament and vision and it combines the traditional indigenous ethos with the classical and modern art movements, blending into an original synthesis. The museum also includes the artist's personal library consisting of about 1500 volumes. The memorial space "Ion Irimescu" is open to the public as well; it is arranged in the apartment where the artist Ion Irimescu lived which is located in a building inside the museum .

The "Ion Irimescu" Art Museum Building, a historical monument, was built in the mid nineteenth century and had various destinations, until 1974 when it was assigned to the art museum.

That year, at the initiative and with the donations of sculptor Ion Irimescu (1903-2005), the museum was established, initially as a department of the City Museum in Fălticeni. The collection value increased, now being the richest author collection in the country, and in 1991 the museum became an independent museum. In 2012, the main building of the museum entered a rehabilitation process. During works, "Ion Irimescu" exhibition was opened to the public inside the building B and the cultural events held by the museum took place inside the "Aurel Băeşu" multipurpose room. Opened on the 10th of February 1975, ''Ion Irimescu" Art Museum gives the art of the sculptor the character of an unitary structure through the works that it houses.

Master Ion Irimescu – the successor of a golden generation of Romanian sculpture from Dimitrie Paciurea, Oscar Han, Ion Jalea, Gheorghe Anghel to the unique Brâncuși. He was born on the 27th of February, 1903 in Fălticeni, a town whose name remains permanently inscribed in Romanian culture due to writers, actors, musicians and plastic artists that were born here. By the work and his museum from Fălticeni, Ion Irimescu joins the great European art of thetwentieth-century, integrating the homeland on universal values​​, giving to Fălticeni an aura of spiritual nobility, an act which can be compared to that of Dante and Michelangelo for their undying Florence.

In addition to the work the artist donated to his home town, many of his works are present in the great museums of the country such as National Art Museum of Romania, Moldova Iaşi National Museum Complex, Art Museum in Constanța, Visual Art Museum in Galați, Art Museum in Cluj, but also in foreign museums (National Gallery of Art in London, the Outdoor Museum in Middelhein-Anvers-Belgium, Ambrosian Library in Milan, Art Museum in Thel-Aviv etc.), in private collections in the country and abroad.
