Planetariu

Profesorului Alexandru Toma, cel de care depindea soarta culturii sucevene în acea perioadă trebuie menţionat cu recunoştinţă, că în anii în care investiţiile mergeau numai în sectorul productiv s-a reuşit ridicarea unui edificiu cu o arhitectură şi o destinaţie de funcţionare deosebită.

Sala Planetariului de formă circulară, cu o deschidere a cupolei de 10 m şi o capacitate de 80 de locuri, a fost dotată cu un proiector ZKP2, comandat încă din anul 1976 şi achiziţionat de la firma germană Carl Zeiss Jena în anul 1978. Acesta proiectează Soarele, Luna, planetele şi aproximativ 6000 de stele vizibile cu ochiul liber pe cerul boreal şi austral, imaginea dinamică a Sistemului Solar, planeta Jupiter cu sateliţii galileeni, evoluţia cometei Donati, fenomenul stelelor căzătoare şi mişcarea unui satelit artificial.

Sub cupola Planetariului se organizează zilnic spectacole unde cei interesaţi pot admira cerul înstelat, indiferent de momentul zilei sau anului, îmbinând armonios spectacolul cerului cu informaţia ştiinţifică. Pot fi prezentate, pe rând, constelaţiile de primăvară până la cele de iarnă, fascinând spectatorul cu frumuseţea aştrilor şi în acelaşi timp cu o adevărată lecţie de astronomie.

Un element de unicitate care diferenţiază Planetariul nostru de alte Planetarii din lume este pictura maestrului Mircea Hrişcă, reprezentând orizontul oraşului Suceava, lucrare care a devenit un veritabil document despre vechea arhitectură, reconstituind repere citadine de acum 30 de ani.

Un deosebit impact vizual şi ştiinţific îl are şi macheta Lunii – lucrare unicat concepută şi realizată de profesorul de geografie Neculai D. Isaic, avându-i consultanţi ştiinţifici pe regretatul astronom dr. Harald Alexandrescu , coordonator al Observatorului Astronomic Amiral Vasile Urseanu Bucureşti şi conf. univ. dr. Elvira Botez.

În spațiul expozițional de la parter sunt prezentate cele mai noi fotografii și imagini din Univers, istoria în date și imagini a observatoarelor și instrumentelor astronomice din vechime și până la cele previzionate a se construi. Acestea sunt expuse pe panouri iluminate, impresionante pentru publicul vizitator prin mărime și acuratețe.

Serile muzeale, concepute după criteriile de interes ale publicului şi după calendarul evenimentelor naţionale şi mondiale sunt stabilite prin strategii menite să identifice şi să protejeze moştenirea culturală şi naturală a cerului înstelat, această resursă spirituală impresionantă dar des ignorată.

Planetarium

In the large and varied network of cultural and touristic landamarks in Suceava, an outstanding landmark to represent the town as a major point of interest is the Planetarium, which was set up in 1982.

The Planetarium of Suceava, a building belonging to the County Council, was transferred into the use of "Stefan cel Mare" University in Suceava.

The Planetarium is a beautiful building, which was intended to promote astronomy.

Mention should be made of professor Alexandru Toma, the one who decided the course of culture in Suceava at the time, and who managed, in those years when investment works were only focused on the production sector, to erect a building with a particular architecture and operating destination.

The hall of the Planetarium has a circular shape with an opening of the cupola of 10 m and the a capacity of 80 seats; it was equipped with a ZKP2 projector, which was commissioned in 1976 and acquired from the German company Carl Zeiss Jena in 1978. It projects the Sun, Moon, planets and about 6,000 stars which are visible to the naked eye on the borealis and australis sky, dynamic image of the solar system, the Jupiter with Galilean satellites, the evolution of Donati's Comet, the phenomenon of shooting stars and the motion of an artificial satellite.

Those interested can watch the starry sky during shows which are held under the cupola of the planetarium whatever the time of day or year, blending harmoniously the air show with the scientific information. Here the visitor can see from spring constellations to winter ones, fascinating the audience with the beauty of the stars and at the same time with a real lesson of astronomy.

The painting of artist Mircea Hrişcă, which represented the skyline of Suceava town, a work reconstructing the urban landmarks from 30 years ago is a unique element that differentiates our Planetarium from other planetariums in the world and became a genuine document about the former architecture.

The Moon model – a work uniquely designed and created by Geography professor Neculai D. Isaic together with PhD astronomer Harald Alexandrescu, coordinator of “Amiral Vasile Urseanu” Astronomical Observatory in Bucharest, and associate professor Phd.Elvira Baptism as scientific consultants, has an impressive impact on the visitor

In the exhibition area on the ground floor, the latest pictures and images of the outer space are presented, including a history in data and images starting from ancient astronomical observatories and instruments to those to be designed. These are displayed on illuminated boards which are impressive for the visitors through size and accuracy.

The museum events, selected according to public interest and in accordance with the national and global events calendar, are set through strategies meant to identify and protect the cultural and natural heritage of the starry sky, an impressive but often ignored spiritual resource.
